Saint Alban en Montagne
The village overhangs volcanic cliffs and offers exceptional panoramic views on the forest valley.
From the “Ron de l’Oule” (1329 meters high) to the “Ron de la Chaumeille” (1232 meters high) and the Arnier stream, Saint Alban en Montagne and its 1394 hectares covers a hilly landscape with great richness of flora and fauna.
The church and its open bell tower were built in 1880. The former church located on the rocky outcrop nearby had become too small. The new church was built to the same design as the cathedral of Le Puy en Velay with volcanic stones from the former church. The architectural inheritance is indeed under restoration.
Agriculture dominates the village economic activity. Nevertheless, there are many secondary residences that have a strong impact on the rural population in summer.
